BIR REMINDS TAXPAYERS TO FILE THE 2019 TAX FORM BY JULY 28TH
Joel Lee, CPA, Director of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue reminds taxpayers about the requirements to receive the advance child tax credit payment offered through the American Rescue Plan of 2021. The Bureau is using this opportunity to urge all taxpayers who have not filed Form 1040 for 2019 to do so by Wednesday, July 28, 2021 in order to provide the Bureau with adequate processing time.
Taxpayers are reminded to sign the tax return and make sure that all social security numbers are correct. Taxpayers are urged to review the return and ensure that the mailing address on the return is correct. Addresses should include the correct routing number as issued by the U. S. Postal Service, to assist in the efficient delivery of the mail, if being delivered to a physical address. Do not use your physical address on a tax return if you do not receive mail at your home. Taxpayers are also reminded that they can continue to bring birth certificates and social security cards for dependents being claimed on the tax return.
